Mexico City 18 April 2017.- On behalf of the United States Ambassador to Mexico, and particularly our Consulate in Tijuana, express the sadness that comes over me by the unfortunate murder of journalist and collaborator of Collective Pericú, Maximino Rodríguez, on Friday April 14 in the city of La Paz.
We all agree to review the work of a journalist in Mexico is becoming more dangerous day. Four journalists have been killed in less than two months. I join the family, friends and colleagues of Max in his suffering by these terrible losses, and I remain firm in my belief that a free and safe press is the foundation of a strong democracy. It is imperative to bring to justice those responsible for the death of Max and other murdered journalists.
